"Peer support interventions" is an umbrella term used to describe a range of ancillary services provided by people with disabilities to people with disabilities, including peer mentoring, peer health education, and peer health navigation. A growing body of research documents the development, implementation, and outcomes of peer support interventions for people with physical disabilities in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The organization, structure, and objectives of peer support interventions vary tremendously, making it difficult to synthesize findings across studies and establish best practices to support their systematic implementation across the continuum of care. This article is a call to action for greater conceptual clarity in how peer support interventions are developed, implemented, and evaluated. Among 433 patients with stroke admitted from 2012-2016, a total of 269 (62%) were included in our database and 89 of 269 patients (33.1%) discharged from inpatient stroke rehabilitation had complete data. Patients with and without complete data were very similar. The group had a mean age of 68.0±14.2 years, National Institutes of Health Stroke Score of 8.0±8.0, and rehabilitation length of stay of 14.7±7.4 days, with 84% having an ischemic stroke and 22.5% having a recurrent stroke.

This study evaluated the association of bendamustine-related skin disorders using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report (JADER) database.
We identified and analyzed reports of skin disorders between April 2004 and November 2019 from the JADER database and calculated the reported odds ratios (RORs) using disproportionality analysis. Additionally, we analyzed the relationship between skin disorders related to bendamustine use and patient information (age and sex).
The symptoms, ranked in order of decreasing strength of association with skin disorders, were infusion-related reaction (ROR=5.708), herpes zoster (ROR=4.658), hypersensitivity (ROR=3.271), and rash (ROR=1.472). Additionally, analysis of the relationships between rash related to bendamustine and sex or age showed significant relationships for female sex and age younger than 70 years (ROR=2.247 and 2.176, respectivelffected by sex (male). Bendamustine is an outpatient chemotherapy regimen, and so we recommend close monitoring of female patients or those younger than 70 years who experience rash-like symptoms and male patients who experience herpes zoster-like symptoms.The clinical implications of a polygenic risk score (PRS) for LDL-C (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol) are not well understood, both within the general population and individuals with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH).
We developed the LDL-C PRS using Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator regression in 377 286 White British participants from UK Biobank and tested its association with LDL-C according to FH variant carrier status in another 41 748 whole-exome sequenced individuals. Next, we tested for an enrichment of FH variant carriers among individuals with severe hypercholesterolemia and low LDL-C PRS. Last, we contrasted the effect of the LDL-C PRS, measured LDL-C and FH variant carrier status on risk of ischemic heart disease among 3010 cases and 38 738 controls.
Among the 41 748 whole-exome sequenced White British individuals, 1-SD increase in the LDL-C PRS was associated with elevated LDL-C among both FH variant carriers (0.34 [95% CI, 0.22-0.47] mmol/L) and noncarriers (0.42 [95% CIme exposure to LDL-C levels.Using low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) to screen for lung cancer is associated with improved outcomes among eligible current and former smokers (ie, aged 55-77, at least 30-pack-year smoking history, current smoker or former smoker who quit within the past 15 years). However, the overall uptake of LDCT is low, especially in health care settings with limited personnel and financial resources. To increase access to lung cancer screening services, the American Cancer Society partnered with 2 federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in Tennessee and West Virginia to conduct a pilot project focused on developing and refining the LDCT screening referral processes and practices. Each FQHC was required to partner with an American College of Radiology-designated lung cancer screening center in its area to ensure high-quality patient care. The pilot project was conducted in 2 phases 6 months of capacity building (January-June 2016) followed by 2 years of implementation (July 2016-June 2018). One site created a sustainable LDCT referral program, and the other site encountered numerous barriers and failed to overcome them.
